stawett celebrates its 100th birthday
A century of punching, riveting, pressing, varnishing and always at the forefront of innovation. stawett celebrates its 100th anniversary as a big family party in the newly built, still empty hall. Bouncy castle, goal wall shooting, face painting, clown fun, live music, delicious barbecue, coffee bike and ice cream van – all this made the anniversary day an unforgettable one for all employees and former employees who have retired from stawett.
Demolition and new construction of halls 6 and 7
Within a year, Stanzwerk Wetter demolished the old halls 6 and 7 and built a modern, 4,800 square meter hall. This new torage and production facility is heated using environmentally friendly heat pump technology. Thanks to good weather conditions and the excellent work of the construction company, there were no delays, which made the construction process particularly efficient.
Foundation of Stanzwerk Ineu in Romania
Stanzwerk Ineu was founded on a former military site in western Romania, where several buildings were erected for production. We place great value to the training and further education of skilled workers directly at the company in order to guarantee the highest quality standards. Since its foundation, the site has been continuously expanded and extended. Today, around 90 employees work at the modern production site, making a significant contribution to the success and growth of stawett.
Expansion and modernisation
stawett focuses on extensive modernization: the office building was completely renovated and the eye-catching staircase with open granite steps was created, all windows were replaced and fitted with modern blind systems. The product portfolio found a new home: 500 square meters of space for a new modern showroom. The production capacities were expanded with a state-of-the-art paint shop.
Stanzwerk Salzwedel
Since 1991, components have been produced in large series in Salzwedel – including foot-gears, back fittings and tubes for seating furniture. Around 100 dedicated employees contributed their expertise over decades, shaping stawett’s production strength. In 2025, as part of a strategic site consolidation, manufacturing was relocated to stawett’s Romanian site.

In the 1960s, Stanzwerk Wetter marked significant developments in its company history. stawett developed its first own folding couch fittings, an important step for the furniture industry, as these could be used accident-free compared to competitor products. Production was expanded to include fittings for wardrobe beds, which further diversified the product range. The company presented itself for the first time at the interzum trade fair in Cologne, a key meeting place for the industry.
Innovations for the furniture industry
stawett has always excelled in innovative solutions for the furniture industry, including adjustable jump up fittings, interior bed sofa fittings and armrest fittings that reflected the spirit of the 1950s and the desire for a comfortable home. The opening of a new production hall was a milestone, with the move symbolically taking place on New Year's Eve as a sign of a new beginning and future growth.
First company car: VW Beetle
In the years of the economic miracle after the Second World War and the associated uncertainties and shortages of raw materials, stawett experienced a boom from the 1950s onwards. The demand for fittings for upholstered beds, folding sofas and other functional pieces of furniture increased enormously. This period also brought traditions such as the annual company outing and special milestones such as the first company car, a VW Beetle, which was used both by the shareholders and for transporting materials.
Foundation
Stanzwerk began in a small workshop with the manufacture and sale of mass-produced items for the iron industry. Despite the challenges of the post-war period and hyperinflation, in which the product portfolio ranged from shovels and curlers to penny heels, Stanzwerk quickly adapted to market equirements. Soon bed and sofa fittings were in demand, which stawett produced in large quantities.
Our headquarter is located in Wetter an der Ruhr, with an additional production site in Ineu (Romania). For our customers, this means sustainable transportation routes and we are proud of our “Made in Europe” seal.
Where it all began – stawett in Wetter: company head office with administration, production and development. The heart of our company, which has grown over 100 years, is located in the middle of the “Ruhrgebiet”.
The Stanzwerk in Romania has been a steadily growing production site with state-of-the-art machinery for more than 10 years.
